I spotted a pair of these at a junk shop not-yet-priced for sale. The cabinets and grills look great, but I have no idea what's under the hood. The back panel states 3 way, 20-40 watts at 16 Ohms. I can't find anything anywhere on these speakers on the internet and I'm intrigued, but not sure what I should pay for these as an experiment. Any information or thoughts on these guys? I'll post a photo when I get back out there for another look.

Sorry that I can't help, but I understand that many Goodman speakers are well regarded. I look forward to seeing the photos.

The specs certainly suggest that they were made in the tube era.

Of course you could open it and find Rat Shack drivers from the 80s. We've all been down that road I suspect.

I have a pair of Wharfedale's where the purple tweets were done wrong that way, still stalking replacements. I'm going back this weekend and I'll see if I can get a better look. I still haven't found much for this particular speaker beyond speculation which may make this a post in the "rarest speaker you've ever owned" thread if it get's priced cheap, I can't imagine it won't need a lot of work.

Almost a must to see what's inside. If all original, good shape, could be very nice. Not sure how much I would pay without seeing drivers, maybe $50. Would be nice if the junk shop would let you look inside and possibly hook them up. No idea how easy to get in them? You have some gear that might pair nicely. Good luck.

The shop is great to roam through, stuff piled everywhere you have to dig through piles to get to something you can barely see. You could take a screwdriver to something and they wouldn't care. I agree, not much more than $50, but some of their drivers from other speakers are listed for drug induced prices on dumBay.

Never mind listed. What have they sold for?

Sadly, the shop priced these at $200. They look in pretty good cosmetic shape outside, but these are 16 ohm speakers and I don't have any way of testing them first and the real kicker is it appears the cabinets are factory glued shut, there's no way to take the backs off or the grills! The one good thing would be that the original factory drivers will still be in there. I'm still pretty torn, but I may just have to wait and see if they sit in the back of the shop long enough the owner drops the price.

It's good news the drivers are likely original. Unfortunate you can't test them with an amp or receiver. I don't suppose the owner would let you bring something in of your own, to test them? In a wonderful, wonderful world, they would allow you to buy them and return if a problem. To buy untested, as is, you need a way lower price, imo. Maybe explain your case and make an offer. Be funny if after all this they sounded like crap.

Lol, that would be too funny if they sounded really bad after all the buildup. I found a youtube video of a two way version of the same series and it wasn't promising. Of course a video of a speaker playing over the internet through a computer over headphones, well, I don't listen to a lot of music that way!
