Goodmans Speakers?

I recently brought home a pair of speakers labeled "Linear Magnetics Inc". They are small (15x8x7) but appear to be well made -- walnut veneer on the cabinets, cloth surrounds for the 5.5" woofers. They have a very simple crossover with a single 4.7uf cap going to the tweeter. When I turned over the tweeter it is labeled "Goodmans Loudspeakers LTD" (no label on the woofer). There is hardly anything on the internet about Linear Magnetics, speakers or company. Has anyone run across this speaker or branding before? I'm hoping that they are Goodmans speakers, which have a fine reputation, but it's a bit of a mystery to me at this point. Thanks for any info you can provide!

Could be something similar to 'Dynatron', which was a budget UK brand sold through electrical retailers like Comet in the 60s/70s. They often have Goodmans or Wharfedale drivers in them.

Goodmans as you mentioned have a great reputation, they were found in multiple different branded speaker cabinets.

As to "Linear Magnetics Inc" and this is just me but the name sounds kinda "White Van" to me as there were some low end speakers that incorporated the word "Linear" in their name to make them sound like they were good.

Here's some examples

Linear Suspension
Linear Research

You might get a better idea of what you have by looking at the Woofer

Thanks for your input, gents. The cabinets are nice enough that I think I'll apply some Howard's Restore-A-Finish, re-seal the surrounds, and replace the single cap. They might make a decent pair of computer or small garage speakers.

Linear Magnetics Inc...

Geez, why not.. anything linear in speaker designing is good !
