Goodwill Kenwood KD-3100, what cartridge is this?

Hi guys,

Picked up a pretty clean Kenwood KD-3100 direct drive semi auto turntable. Cleaned it all up and it's working perfect now.


Few questions
How are these turntables? Cant find much on them.
Can anyone tell me what cartridge this is?
What do you recommend I put on this table?

Cart is an Audio Technica. Cant tell the model. Join Vinyl engine to download the owners manual for It. Decent little Direct Drive unit made between 1978 - 1980. Good luck.

Where would I be able to find the model number for it? And I did see the manual over at vinyl engine, but its not in English.
It does sound pretty good for $25! Cant complain :music:

Have you removed the Stylus and had a good look yet? Some of the people here can identify a cart by smelling the box it came from.. Im not one of them, but a couple close ups would help .
 
Usually Audio Technica places the model number on top of the cart, so you will need to remove the cart from the headshell.
 
I have not removed it yet. I will have to later and take some more pictures of it. Ill remove it from the headshell since I need to realign it better anyways.
 
Thanks, I did see that when I googled it, looks like the stylus that I have.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with the PC220 cartridge.
 
I don't have experience with that cart, but that is a nice stylus so I would think it should sound pretty nice. I'm sure someone will come along to verify shortly.
 
The Audio Technica Precept PC220 was a pretty good sounding cartridge! The stylus was a .2 x .7 mil and nude mounted. I believe that LP Gear still sells a replacement stylus for $75.
 
Might want to check your Kenwood TT owners manual, available at Vinyl Engine, re placement of turntable, on top of amp will cause heat issues for both units.

It looks like Vinyl engine only has a different language available for this manual.

I just temporarily placed it up on top of the amp to get it working.
