Goodwill ripoff didn't get me !!

I wish our GW would get stuff like that... I am surprised that the folks who work at these places don't eyeball the stuff as it comes in and at least check eBay to see what it goes for? Amazing.

The best stuff never makes it to the floor anymore it seems with all the "volunteers" in back and some employees getting first crack. If any happens to fall thru the cracks the "campers with carts" snag it as comes out the doors.

I was shocked a couple years ago when I found a very clean working Pioneer SX-780 for $13. The ONLY deal I've ever found at our GW store.
I recently gave it to my youngest son along with a set of speakers, CD player and NOS Pioneer headphones for his first system. BPC with issues is all I ever see anymore.

^^ Dang, those go for $300 on the bay these days.

The OP was using satire, I gather. Therefore no pics will be forthcoming. I passed up a solid bar of gold last week, they wanted $99.99 for it! I could barely pick it up and if I was going to that much trouble, there was no way I was paying over $20 for it. I left in a huff.

I would not suggest that, ever.
I hate it when '' they '' do that.....

I bought a Yamaha C4 in great shape below the asking price of $50 at an electronics recycling place when I went there to pick up a couple of lab ovens we had bought from their website. A couple of knobs were missing and I talked them into letting me have it for $40. Got the nobs form our Avionic and I had a perfectly functioning C4.

Wow thats almost as cool as the Wilson Audio Chronosonic XVX speakers I found at my local goodwill for $200 ;)

"campers with carts"
Haha thats a good one LOL. And so true. I knew a fellow who became one of those for a year or so. Then he got a letter from the IRS wanting their cut of his action. He has since dialed it back to a visit on the weekend only overall.

But there are still folks who pay a visit to ours several times a day in some cases.

Ive heard here in WI several of the stores send the stuff they feel is big $ to the madison store who posts it to the goodwill ebay site. Ive no idea if thats accurate. Cant really blame em even if they do. Its no secret Goodwill has become the Ebay show room. Id guess nearly 60+% of the shoppers are part time or full time flippers. And hopefully GW does use the $ to better folks other than corp earnings.

I personally have found a good deal of really cool stuff over the years at my local thrift joints. Not near as much vs 10+ years ago. But thats no surprise.

I also found out the various GW stores around here operate VERY differently and are under different branches of the company. And BOY does it show. Some are not worth stopping into while others are a really cool mystery of what youll find.

Im happy and grateful for the cool stuff Ive found over the years. Including the Wilson speakers ;)
