Goodwill/SA/Thrift Store Discussions & Finds

Some Nice JBL's if you live in PA or CA near the Goodwill stores selling them...

Studio 570's, Studio 580's and a pair of 4311B's.

Glad I decided to stop. All for 9 the 6 on the top I don't know much about but figured why not View attachment 2915739

Harvest is probably one my of my most favorite records. It spans both extremes of the emotion spectrum for me (it was a favorite friday night listen along with a close friend who suddenly died about 70 years too early and conversely, reminds me of the end of summer/start of fall which is my favorite time of year.

in fact, I was just playing it yesterday for the first time in a long while. I don’t know the other albums but I’d buy out of sheer curiosity.

I pulled a perfect pair of 4311's two years ago in walnut. Nice speaker that I just didn't need. Much better than the L 100's I had a few years back.

I have quite a few Neil Young records but didn't have this one. I use to play it a lot on CD when I lived in California 20 years ago so I also have fond memories associated with it. I was also excited about finding the Funkadelic album. I rarely see them unless they are modern releases.

Well, yesterday and today were my best days at the thrift in a long time!

I picked up the smaller batch of 6 yesterday, and then I went to a different Value Village today, and found the record and the rest of the tapes. I guess there have been a few people cleaning out houses!

We picked up a bunch of other good things like a pair of Outbound Felt slippers, Bear paw snowshoes, a book by my favourite author, and my wife even filled up her cart! We hadn't been finding things so this was a surprise. I even passed on a bunch of records I already had!

I got a reply from my local art guy. "No idea." He did say that it might be a rooftop view of Paris, from the 10th arrondissment, with Sacre Coeur on the hilltop in the background. Neither of us found any reference (in his library, or on the internet) to a painter named Audrey, Andrey, A. Drey, Aidrey, in that particular style. He also added that it was likely to be a 'painting of a painting' by a reasonably talented amateur.
The closest thing I saw were a few paintings by Andre Figol, but his signature looks nothing like the one you've posted.
Personally, I like it. Leave it hanging.;)

Won this Garrard SL-65 on shopgoodwill a few weeks ago. Finally got around to restoring it and put it in a wood base I had. Working well and sounds great. Bonus was that the idler was soft and pliable, they are usually hard as a rock.

I like these little Garrard Auto Slim tables. This model was the pinnacle of the series, so I've wanted one for a while. Upgrades from other ones: a heavy cast platter, anti skate, synchronous motor, and cue lever.

Came across these for $9.99. You'll all hate me as I left them behind.
