Although my wife and are both retired ..... and I spend a lot of time at home because of my illness, having some level of freedom remains important.
Some here may recall another recent thread of mine where the progression of my illness ended the season of a Mustang GT convertible.
Our main vehicle is a 2025 Bronco Sport and I can drive that with less pain because of the higher seating position and legs going in a more downward direction.
So with the Mustang gone we deliberated - do we get a second vehicle or not.
After some back and forth my wife said let's do it ..... she said my freedom to get out if I'm feeling up to it and she's out volunteering or something remains of value
So we began snooping for a small SUV .... again keeping the ergonomics of the seating position in mind
Amazing what's out there ..... this is what we found
2017 Ford Escape .... a local car / 1 owner / no accidents / zero rust / always stored inside / exemplary service records / and here's the kicker it only has 25,000 kms or 15,500 miles - so on average 2,777 kms per year ( or 1,722 miles )
It's nothing fancy ... and has little tech compared to vehicles of today (which I'm ok with)
A bonus .... we have a set of winter tires and rims from another vehicle (sold) that just so happens are a perfect bolt on fit
