Got the HD880s, need new tweeter and super, woofers work but need replaced soon.

I already know where I should get the tweeters and super tweeters; however, I am unsure as to where I should get the 12" woofers and what brand I should get to replace the current ones as the cabinets have already been modified to hold the standard 12" ones. Also, I need to fabricate the Grill Panels as they didn't withstand the test of time. Any suggestions on the foaming?

Nah, they're modified but they still have the original drill holes, the modified part isn't cutting a bigger hole or anything like that. The drill holes used for the newer subs aren't even gonna be visible when the originals are added. If they were heavily modified I wouldn't have bought them even for $25 cause My plan is to restore them cause they look freakin cool in pristine shape.

Yeah Lol that would be bad. The guy said he got an audio guy to install them so he wasn't hacking at them himself. He also knows how valuable they can be once fully restored and he was glad I was the type aiming for restoration rather than stripping the parts.

The HD88's I hope to own someday. And those are just woofers, not sub woofers.

Just chiming in here, I had a set of Marantz Design Series 940, they look to be the exact same speakers, they were a hard speaker to refoam, odd size woofer. But after fixing them they sounded quite nice. Unfortunately they had other issues, one of the tweeters was nonfunctioning, and both the crossover have bad pots for the frequency adjustments. monsterman, You said 880's, but you also said the grills didn't withstand the test of time, which 88's had sculpted foam grills that turned to dust, unlike the "880" which have frames with cloth. Yikes! Didn't mean to wake an old thread! Do you still have them? I have 940's, myself, and a few others.

The 940 is not exact same speaker as 880, or 88 for that matter. Drivers are same, but frequency response Is different, as is the soundstage, imaging, and phasing, with extended bass. Do you have an actual picture of yours?

But I agree, the 88's had foam grille facings and the 880s did not.
