Grabbed this MCS for $30 today. Rather impressive.

So this this MCS 6601 popped up on my FB Marketplace feed today for $50. When I got there she said I was so friendly(don't ask me?) I could take it for $30.

Fairly impressive TT for the money. Other than 1 missing foot, some dust/cracked dust cover, a stop/play knob that pops off the pot and the original Pickering cart(which may need to be changed) it's a pretty solid TT. This is my fifth TT now I can't stop collecting them. Each one has their own sound, quirks etc. I love hearing the differences between them all and try to understand why they sound different or behave differently. It keeps me from trouble.

The Audio Technika VM95ML is probably the best deal going in the new, under $200 price range and would be a great match for the tonearm on your MCS 6601. List price of $169, but you can get it for $143.65 with free shipping by ordering through the Audio Technica web site and using promo code TIM2020 at checkout. Just be aware that there have bee some long shipping delays when ordering this way. Audio Technica forwards the orders they receive to your nearest distributor for fulfillment. Some report getting them within a week, others take 30 days, or more. It all depends on the distributor. Hey there thanks for the response! I apologize it took awhile to respond. Was "off the grid" a few days fly fishing. I'll check it out. Was also thinking of trying one of the Vessel A3SE cartridges just to see what the hype is about. Planning to use this this table as a springboard for experimenting and my AR XA for regular listening.

Just wanted to pop in and thank you for the suggestion though. Definitely on the radar now.

I just ordered the VM95ML for my secondary deck: Kenwood KD-5070. It was on my eBay list, but I was dragging my feet... and I’m glad I was!

I picked up another brush for $15 too. Apparently no discount on that.

Seconded. Decided to go with this in the end. The price was too nice to pass on.

The D400 is a MI stylus so you have basically a Pickering version of 681eee which is a very decent cart. Maybe consider a new stylus.
If you really must change the cart consider lp gear Vessel the 234 dollar nude vivid line one (sounds fab). I would be just getting a stylus though. LP gear do a nice vivid line (bonded though) which is exact dimensions of a Shibata clearly that is what it actually is as Vivid line does not exist just marketing name. Good value IMO.

I have an AT-VM05ML on my Technics SL-D2. It's a great cartridge. I believe it's the cheapest microline/fineline cartridge for sale right now.
