Grace tonearm question?

A friend just picked up a nice Kenwood KD-500 w/Grace tonearm. What models did most people use when putting one on this machine and are there "families" of designs in the Grace lineup for the late 70s'? (All info on the arm is in Japanese!)

G704's and 707's were the popular Grace arm in that time period. The G-707 is ultra low mass and had excellent bearings sourced from gyros used in aircraft instrumentation. I have one on my Thorens TD 125 II.

I have had Thorens TD 160 Mk2 with Grace 707. Good low mass tonearm. Supposedly, it was on pair with SME 3009 arms soundwise, but more fragile and harder to find spare parts. Mine had a problem with that plastic part that holds lift mechanism.

Agreed. We sold lots of 704s where i worked. I chose the teak body 714 unipivot for an Accuphase AC-2 i had at the time.
 
Tonearm aside....my god that Thorens is drop dead! (Bud's off to a VW convention in SoCal and will be investigating the arm when he gets back.....fenders for a '54 Beetle search may be tougher than one for tonearm parts?)
Thanks and will be checking back in once the new cart is installed and vinyl spinning.

This is not the first time I heard this. The arm lift on mine broke, but I was able to repair it.

Thanks. Fender's for a '54 sounds challenging, but if it's a big enough meet they may be there. Good luck to him.
