Hello,

I have a Garrard SL 95B,that needs a cartridge. I have a Grado F3+ I am thinking of using. The Garrard has settings for conical and Elliptical. I was wondering what stylus the Grado came with? Also, any issues with pairing the two ?

Thanks for any help.

That's a 30 year old cartridge... pretty good though. The F3+ is conical, the F3e was elliptical. I sold/installe literally hundreds of them. It'll work well in that SL-95b too. Enjoy.

Hope this helps you out . I'd go with a Blue or a Red stylus .

I like mine .

Thanks guys,I appreciate the info. I knew it was old,but had no idea it was that old. I will give it a shot until I can buy a new cartridge.

Cartridge bodies don't wear out. Styli do. Drop in a replacement stylus and you should be good to go :)

I pulled a tan-body Grado FC+ off a thrift store turntable and tried to put a new Green1 stylus on it. Unfortunately I discovered that the old stylus assembly looks similar to the new ones, but they are not the same, and it is impossible to put a new stylus on an FC+. I essentially wasted $40 (that is, until the stylus on my ZC+ wears out in a few years!).

I don't know if this is the same case with an F3+, but it's worth confirming before buying a new stylus...

Interesting ,I had not thought of that. I better do some research before I buy a new stylus.

That's interesting beatcomer :scratch2: in my experience new Prestige stylus do fit in my old old tan bodies. Is it possible something's stuck down inside the FC+ body preventing the new stylus from fitting? Or hardened dampening compound (the black stuff) is blocking the way?

I too just checked on a tan bodied cart with a newer Silver stylus and it fit . Now I didn't play it on a TT but seemed to fit into the body just fine .

The tan cart was either a GF3+ or a MF3+ I have both and the silver is a newer black bodied cart .
