Grado Platinum Reference vs. Statement

Hey guys,

I'm looking at the Grado Platinum V2's which are getting very fine reviews, but what I'm wondering about is which is the right one for me - there are two versions of this cart, "Reference" and "Statement". I don't have the electronics know-how to be able to tell which is the right one for me. I am currently running a Pro-Ject 6.9 thru a Marantz 2216 (which I'm looking to upgrade to a more serious Marantz). The only difference between the two seems to be in the output, inductance, and resistance.
The specs are as follows:

Reference:​

• Output : 4.8mV @ 5 CMV (45)

• Controlled Frequency Response: 10-60 KHZ

• Channel Separation: Average 30DB - 10-30,000

• Input Load: 47,000 OHMS

• Inductance: 50 Mh

• Resistance: 600 OHMS

  Statement:

• Output : 1.0mV @5 CMV (45)

• Controlled Frequency Response: 10-60 KHZ

• Channel Separation: Average 30DB - 10-30,000

• Input Load: 47,000 OHMS

• Inductance: 6 Mh

The phono stage on your Marantz has an input sensitivity rating of 2.2 mV, so you'll need the higher output reference series Platinum. Also bear in mind that the new V2 models are heavier than the previous versions. Your tonearm will probably need a heavier counterweight to balance the 10 gram weight of the new Grados (the stock counterweight of the Pro-Ject 6.9 is good for cartridges up to 7 grams, according to the manual).

Interesting numbers provided. The R and I values given for the Hi out, Low out bodies look to be more akin to the older line of Grado carts, ie the F and G series (hi out), and the low out seems more akin to the MCZ through XTZ bodies.
