Grammy opinions?

millerdog

The Mod Squad
I'm still watching it here, but so far:
Simon and Garfunkle...way cool! I may have to buy "The Graduate" on DVD.
Norah Jones best pop? WOW. Even she wondered if her music was "pop."
Eminem, was humble and traced his musical roots? WOW
more later

The Grammys are not much more than a fashion show these days. It's a joke. The most talented performers get the least recognition while manufactured Pop icons get showered with awards. No thanks, I don't need an awards show to tell me which CD's are worth buying. That job is best done by my two ears.

Wow, Norah Jones rocked! I thought Coldplay might have given her the run...Jsh, it's kinda nice to see who they honor even though they might not be your choice.
It's still the Grammy's. It's not meant to show you what to purchase; it's meant as an awards ceremony to recognize the best of the year. I never implied it was a bar to use to purchase music;)

RE: GRAMMY

I always thought , when I was growing up, that the Grammy was about the best music made for the preceding year.

Its seems now it just about who sells the most cd's.

Just one observation, ok I guess it's an opinion...
That group ColdPlay was horrible and the song was worse!!!!

:thumbsdn: :thumbsdn:

Even the N.Y. Philharmonic couldn't help that crap!
That guy could not sing! Where the hell was the melody?

Is this song a hit on the radio? If it is God help us!

My kids force me to listen to a lot of pop radio in the car and I never heard this POS song... I guess I was spared until last night.

The sad part is there are so many groups and so many songs a hundred times better than this crapola that never see the light of day...

Damn, I've got to learn to express my feelings better and not hold back...

:D

I have been listening to the Nora Jones CD for a couple of weeks and it is very enjoyable. But POP? I don't know really how to classify her but I wouldn't have thought POP.
Mike, that was James Taylor with Yo Yo Ma and his stuff is great to listen to.
The Simon and Garfunkle opening was great! I have been listening to the Bridge Over Troubled Waters a bit lately and it is a really great performance as well as a very good recording, especially since it was a live recording. What the hell happenned to the recording industry? Seems as though there was a dark age in quality there for a while.

Weak

Last time I got excited by The Grammy's was in 1971 when Paul McCartney made a surprise acceptance. Since.... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. MikE

I got lucky when Julia got bored with the show and left the room allowing me to actually listen to Nora Jones over this absolutly great sound system the Good Audio Fairy left one night because my heart is pure.

Didn't (of course) care about it, or watch. Just sorry I missed, who? Faith Hill *almost* covered by a short skirt ... :dunno:
