Grand Funk reissues

Saw them on stage for one of their first appearances - Detroit Rock and Roll Revival - State Fair Concert. They were introduced by Terry Knight and the audience layed back - waiting for other bands to come. While their performance was good- it wasn't until Atlanta that they hit stride and became the band we've known to love.

About 2 weeks ago I went into a record store (used) which was overpriced by my standard, (5 to 20 bucks) and looked through all of their lps which wasn't more than 500. Out of all the records there was not one lp that interested me in the least, say one. I was shocked to find Mark,Don and Mel in absolutely mint condition. It looks like it was just unwrapped and the vinyl looks just as pristine. I haven't even cleaned or played it yet because to me its one of those LP's where the heavens need to be aligned to get the most enjoyment that I KNOW this LP is capable of delivering. I'm still excited when I even write about it. By the way, I was very happy to have to pay the $5.99 asking price.
On another note, I was wondering if anyone knows the difference in the green vs the red label Capitol LPs that are on the Grand Funk Live lp's. I never noticed it until I was going through my collection and looking at some doubles that I have of them. I think I'm gonna get rid of some of my copies to thin the heard out some. Thanks for any info you might have on this.

Picked up Grand Funk Live at a garage sale a couple of weeks ago for a buck. Inside were two copies of each LP, one green set and one red set (in sleeves). I did tell the owner... still just a buck.

One of my first 45's that I owned was Were A American Band. It was on yellow vinyl. One of my favorite songs was The Locomotion. I remember that playing on the radio on my last day of school when I was in the 5th grade.

If you were old enough to have a car in the early seventies you a had an 8-track player and one of your tapes that you wore out was G. Funk.

Here's one for ya, Survival. I haven't listened to this yet, & I think it was a thrift store $1 score. :smoke:
