I was cruising around CL for my area looking for a 5.1 A/V receiver (DD & DTS capable) that would do double duty as a decent stereo receiver. I wanted one to drive the JBL L5s I recently picked up that does double duty as fronts in a 5.0 HT setup and occasionally for stereo music. I came across an Onkyo DS-696 and talked the seller down to $60. Picked it up yesterday and the unit, and the remote, is in absolutely pristine condition. I wonder if the seller ever used it. It replaced a Pioneer VSX-812 A/V receiver that was having trouble driving the L5s in stereo mode. The Onkyo definitely has an easier time with the L5s in stereo mode and it should considering it has fairly good specs. Overall, really like the DS-696 but did I score? If I did then I'll like a little better.
