Great "Golden Throat" Find

Toasted Almond

RIP 1952-2016
I recently picked up a gorgeous piece of vinyl by David McCallum, old Ilya Kuryakin, one of the men from U.N.C.L.E. On Capitol, I'm going to marvel at his renditions of 98.6/I'm a Believer/Mellow Yellow/Penny Lane/59th Strt Bridge/Strawberry Fields/California Dreamin'/Mercy,Mercy,Mercy and more.

I haven't listened to it yet, and I'm wondering if I should start with something light like 98.6, or just go right to Mercy, Mercy, Mercy and listen to him pour on the emotion.

At your advanced age, can your heart really stand the stress of being subjected to such virtuoso performances?

Maybe start with Tiny Tim, stop off at Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner, before you go for the big magilla.

Oh, and my wife would like the album and sleeve.

You could even keep the album, just send the sleeve. :D

I might have to put on "Has Been" again after that swipe.
I'd love to see the album cover. Him surrounded by a bevy of...
Title?

McCallum is currently on the TV show NCIS playing medical examiner Dr. "Ducky" Mallard. One of the running jokes on the show is that when Dr. Mallard was younger, he looked like Ilya Kuryakin.

I don't know what would be worse...have you all heard any of Chad Everett's albums? Chad Everett was Joe Gannon on Medical Center in the late 60's early 70's...EWWWWWWW...as my 12 year old niece would say "Whatever! Major Loser"....gotta agree on that one...I'd even listen to Kurt Russell's overdubbed bubblegum album from 1970...at least he could carry a tune somewhat!

I also found the Lorne Greene album. Talk about lucky huh?

Ernie, it's yours/hers, vinyl and everything. I knew there was somebody that Capitol targeted this album towards.

The title is McCallum, and there are no babes, just him behind the wheel of a RR. The cover is pristine Ernie.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

You sure know how to name them! They are even worse than Telly Savalas doing his talking imitation of singing!

The exact opposite of Gomer Pyle (Jim Naybors -SP?) and Florence Henderson (the Mom on the Brady Bunch); unlikely acting types bursting into song with surprisingly good voices!

Oh, and let's not mention Madonna's "acting".

Why anyone thinks that singers should act or actors should sing, is beyond me. It worked years ago under the studio systems, but mostly because they picked people with at least the competence to learn how to act, sing AND dance (and who actually looked good, too!) to begin with, and then gave them ample time with some of the best coaches on the planet.

Gentlemen,

Why stop there when you can go all the way. Mrs. Miller's voice can peel wallpaper and make terrorists surrender! She sounds just like nails on chalkboard! :tresbon:
