Big Vandies!! Mwahahah...
Hello AK.

I have been searching around for places where i can get help with my audio equipment and this seems to be the place. I will be starting some threads in other sections shortly, but for now, some stuff about me.

I live in Northern NJ and I am 18.

Now my setup. (Not a lot to it but it sounds good and didn't cost much.)

Realistic STA-85 receiver (perchesed new in '83 by my father and has been in almost constant use since)

Magnivox FD1051BK01 CD Player. (perchesed by my father in '86)

Two KLH 510-Loudspeakers (perchesed used in '83 by my dad)

A KLH 9830 on the left channel and a KLH 900B on the right channel (bought as a set and they look the same but have different wattage ratings, I am rather confused about that but they work and sound good.)

The 510's have had there tweeters and midranges disconnected and are being used solely as woofers. This is because the tweeters have warped coils and the midranges... well lets just say there isn't much left of the cones.

And here it is.

(yes i know i need to get them off the floor. They are there because if they were any higher they would be inside the picture of my projector.)

Welcome X 25! You've got some nice equipment there I'm sure pleases you well. Just continue to spell the words in your posts the best you can, we're reading you loud and clear.

I really do like my setup and it sounds wonderful (if you close your eyes the speakers melt away into the music) but from what i have seen there really isn't much support for early 80's klh speakers. I have only seen one other person on here rave about newer klh's and he was talking about the 900B's (of which i have one). So now i am wondering where would be a good place to find some support and help with my speakers?

A big apple hello!

You are starting at a good age to appreciate what real gear can and does at reproducing music realisticly.........I-Pod, MP3, and their ilk are not true reproducers of 'hi-fidelity' music.

Stick around this forum and others, and be prepared to find a whole new world of music reproduction un-folding right before your very eyes!

Glad you are here!:thmbsp:

Actually i stated using those speakers when i was 15. I had them connected to a Sony 3 CD changer that i garbage picked. After a while i dug out my dad's old receiver and CD player and decided that they sounded a lot better and never went back. I like MP3s but only for there ease of use when i am out and about. When i really want to listen to something i get the CD and throw it in.
