Green Day, Sting, Stevie Ray Vaughan headline 2015 Rock Hall nominees

The commercial need for this business to induct people every year waters down quality, if it's about quality (or Rock and Roll). On the other hand if it's about fame (a reasonable basis for running a hall of fame) then there are famous people who aren't there and people who aren't famous who are.

In other words it's just a bunch of bullshit.

all the great bands that should be in . . .

So Deep Purple's not even being considered this year, I see.

Yeah, that's how absurd all this RRHOF bullshit is. :finger:

SRV and The Smiths absolutely need to be in the HOF.

I also think Chic is due since they've been nominated 8 times already.

And IMHO Kraftwerk needs to be there given how important and influential they were.

Are The Police already in the HOF? If not, then I would say no way in hell Sting gets in before The Police.

Lou Reed of course is a sentimental favorite, but I don't know - I'd say the VU (who already are in, yes?) are more essential for the HOF.

I thought SRV was already there. No problem with Green Day, although they should be well behind Deep Purple in line. Sting's solo career wouldn't have amounted to much if he hadn't already achieved fame with the Police. BBB belongs, if only for Mike Bloomfield's work with them.

The HOF is like a large Hard Rock Cafe, but with an inferior menu and beer list. I went there 7-8 years ago while passing through Cleveland and the only exhibit that held my attention was Janis Joplin's psychedelic 356 Porsche. Otherwise, pretty much of a yawn, compared to the awesome Football HOF an hour down the road in Akron. To my great surprise, the Country Music HOF in Nashville is far superior, despite my general preference for rock over country.

Hmmm... I think Kraftwerk just watered down and dancified the brilliant music that Can and Neu! were doing, mixing in a bit of Tangerine Dream....

But, Stink? He belongs in the Hall Of Shame.

Several on the list belong. I believe Joan Jett is the one off the most underrated performers on the list. Saw her perform for the 1st time this year and was quite impressed. She looks good, sounds good and you can tell she loves what she's doing. Started her own record label after being rejected by everyone, selling her 1st albums out of the trunk of a car after shows, Do a youtube search and you'll see some great performances of her with the Foo Fighters and at last year's HOF induction with Nirvana. The girl rocks and has paid her dues.

I must agree with others that the list of those that are in the HOF vs those not in can be quite perplexing.

I have no issues at all with Sting and SRV being on that list.

Yeah, me neither (Sting BARELY, but the Police better already be members, or there's something really-wrong)....

But 'effing GREEN DAY??? .... Their debut album came out in like 1993, for damn sake... And how many truly-classic, monster albums did they actually have? Not that many...

For SRV, it's about time... He deserved it ten years ago.

I came up with a Smiths album over the years, and it is one of the most boring dullest bunch 'o crap I ever attempted to listen to.
