Greeting from South Mountain

cosmicmessenger

flyfishing forever
Hello to everyone !!! I also have been a lurker here for some time, and I finally made my first post on the Guerrilla Audio thread (business forum).

I live in Phoenix AZ, near South Mountain (some place I thought I would never live, bad reputation) and have been an Arizona resident for 31 years. Before that, I lived in southern Minnesota for 20 years, moved because I couldn't take the cold any more lol.
I just celebrated my 22nd wedding anniversary (been together for 28 years) with my lovely and audio forgiving wife a week ago. We have 3 cats and a desert tortose.

Getting back to the audio, I really love this site and have leaned a bunch. I was in contact with Grainger49 earlier this year and he totally, totally helped me set up my Souther TQ-1 tonearm on my TT via e-mail. Without his help I would have been lost and I want to say to Grainger49, thank you much sir!

My main system, in the front room of my house is as such:

Clearaudio Solution TT with the CMB (ceramic magnetic bearing) platter
Clearaudio Souther TQ-1 linear tracking tonearm with a Sumiko Blackbird cart
Clearaudio Unify tonearm with Clearaudio wood classic cart (yes 2 arms)
This is sitting on a Bright Star Audio sandbox and covered with a custom dust cover
Each cart goes to it's own phono stage, one is a Simm Moon Audio and the other is a Sumiko tube phono stage.

McIntosh C2200 tube audio preamp
McIntosh MVP861 audio video player
McIntosh MC501 mono block amps
McIntosh XRT1K speakers

PC Alchemy 1TB harddrive music server feeding a
Mark Levinson 36s DAC
To view harddrive server info, is a 37 inch LG lcd monitor

This is all sitting on an Atlantis Referance 5 audio rack
Nordost and MIT cables
Shakti Hallographs, cool acoustic room treatment

My 2nd audio system in a spare bedroom:
Clearaudio Emotion TT with Satify tonearm using (for now) a Grado Gold cart
sitting on a isolation platform and a Ginko dust cover
PS: I also have another Clearaudio Emotion TT with a Clearaudio Aurum cart

McIntosh C41 preamp
McIntosh MA 6100 integrated amp (using the C41 as preamp for MA 6100, more inputs)

Cambridge Audio 640H harddrive music server
Pioneer PD 65 cd player
Theta Digital pro basic IIIa DAC
KLH Burwen TNE 7000 pop and click noise eliminator

Bertagni D120 panel speakers (bought from Buzz Jenson, this was his personal audio system to start Audio Alternative in 1979 in Phoenix) (speakers still sound great)
Carver AL III plus speakers
Carver 1000 watt powered 10 inch subwoofers (2)
Using the MA6100 to drive the Bertagni and Carver AL III speakers (no problem)

Plus I have alot more vintage audio laying around here, to make up at least 2 more complete audio systems, or start my own audio store lol.

Other habits and vices include: flyfishing (wifes hobby also), motorcycles (2 BMW's and 2 Ducati's), and a 1966 Chevelle Malibu (orginal Arizona car).
Anyway thanks again for this great web site, and I will look forward to hearing from all of you great people.

Welcome aboard. I spent many a weekend on south mountain.

Thanks everyone

Thanks for the warm or hot (Phoenix) welcome.
The bike in my avatar is my 1973 slightly (lol) modified R75/5 BMW mc. I've owned this bike since 1979 after lusting for a BMW mc for years when I was a mc mechanic (past life).
Some of the mods I've done are: Suzuki GS1100 front forks with anti dive, fork brace is from a 500 honda twin and front fender is off a tz250 Yamaha. Orginal drum brake has been replace with duel 4 piston Performance Machine calipers and Luftmeister cast iron rotors.
It has every brace (frame and swingarm) that CC Products (San Jose BMW)made.
Engine is now from a 1000 cc, 1977 R100S, 4 speed was replaced with a 5 speed and rear drive ratio went from 3.36:1 to 2.91:1 for high speed touring.
The rear fender is the front fender from a Kawasaki police bike and seat is a Corbin streetfighter solo seat.
I did all the work except for machining the front axle and welding on the braces. I even painted it myself using House of Color paint in my garage after building a paint booth.
I joke with my wife and tell her she's number 2 and that bike is number 1. Luckily she has a good sense of humor or I'd be sleeping with the tortose.
I will try and get some pictures of my system uploaded soon.
Anyway, thanks again for the welcome.
Lonnie
PS: Grumpy, did you know that South Mountain park is the largest city park in the US (and maybe the world). A great place for sight seeing, motorcycle riding and hiking.

Was also a great place to go and get wasted. Did lots of hiking and biking there back in the 80's

Flyfishing

Hi Onepixel, where abouts do you go flyfishing. Ask me about trout fishing in Arizona, lots of places to fish.
PS: my fav is small streams, bamboo flyrods and catch and release...
Lonnie
