Well, after 20 years of hibernation and a visit to the local repair shop, the Mitsu LT20 (purchased 1980) has been resurrected !! In addition to my existing library of nearly 200 LPs, I got anxious to expand and picked up another nearly 200 that weren't cared for with the same passion as mine. My question is, and forgive me if I missed a related thread... without spending for a cleaning system (and I'm not opposed to making the purchase), is my best approach just good ol" distilled water in a spray bottle and micro-fibers ? I'm not concerned that a cleaning system would save time....I'm wondering if they are more effective than the "elbow" method. thanks for any responses. Spin, baby, spin !

Welcome to AK snap! You will find differing points of view on cleaning methods. Most, not all, will likely agree that an investment in an ultrasonic cleaner will not be regretted.....I put mine together for slightly less than $400, so that might be something to think about. If you do a search here on ultrasonic cleaners, you will find all you need to know about how one goes about doing that, including how to whip up a concoction for your bath to add to the distilled water. Personally, I would not just "spray and wipe." There will be too much detritus left in the grooves to make me happy and I would be concerned about grinding stuff against the grooves, but that's just me.

Welcome back to vinyl! As Fishead so correctly pointed out you will probably get nearly as many opinions as there are AK members. I have and use a Spinclean Spin-Clean Record Washers - Shop the Official Spin-Clean Store. Not horribly expensive and, in my opinion, several rungs up the ladder from hand cleaning with microfiber. I've tried a number of hand cleaning approaches and none of them produce the results I get from the Spinclean. That said, I have no skin in the game so by all means gather as many perspectives as you can. Just offering a welcome accompanied by my 2 cents.

I use a Spin Clean, and I am pretty satisfied. I would love to have a more expensive solution, but for now the SC works for me. If you get one and don't think you like it you can always sell it quickly. They rarely last a day on BarterTown here.
