Hello, new audiophile here! I have recently inherited a vintage stereo that I am clueless about. My research on how to get started led me to this terrific site. I look forward to becoming friendly with and learning from all of you knowledgable people.

Welcome to AK!

Now you have people curious what you inherited.

It is a Marantz 6300 turntable, and a set of Walsh 2 Ohm speakers. They purchased it all new from a stereo shop in San Diego in the late 70s. Whatever receiver or amplifier/tuner they had with the set was given away before I got my hands on it (I know a real tragedy). I do know that the missing components were also Marantz. One of the main reasons I joined this page was to seek a little advice about what some decent and moderately affordable options would be for era correct receivers/amplifiers that would be powerful enough for those speakers.
