Ground buzz on all mono cartridges in both channels. None on stereo...help needed.

So recently I have picked up two Zerozone 834P clones to use with both turntables I have. (Technics SL-QL1 and SL1200 MK2) The MK 2 is running an AT-VM95ML and AT-VM95C with no problems, but both the Grado MC+ and AT-Mono LP/3 cartridges buzz when connected.
I tried an experiment where I tied the right and left+ and the right and left- causing the VM95C to be run in parallel and it buzzed as well...
This didn't happen on a real 834P as well as my McIntosh MX-110Z so I am assuming it's the 834P clones. Both do this (I tried both) so it's not an isolated incident with just one.
What gives I wonder?

I had a similar issue. Using the mono button on my McIntosh preamp killed the buzz. For me in my system when I use my mono cart, I also have to engage my mono switch to mono. Not sure why, but it works for me.
 
sounds like its forming a ground loop when the two negative leads are tied together. Might be able to have it work by simply leaving one of those negative leads unhooked, but tying the + together.

Good suggestion but these didn't have a problem with the stereo function of the 110Z.
They only have this with the Zerozone.
