Hi all, i recently picked up a Grundig KS 732U solid state console with Turntable at the thrift store, it was powered up by another guy so i did some poking around and discovered no sound at all, light in the cab would come on but TT wouldn't power and couldn't even get static from the radio, manager said i could have it for $40 bucks so i figured what the hell, its in amazing shape. Brought it home and plugged it in (I know i know, probably not the best idea) to see if i could get it playing after fixing a mount for one of the tweeters and checking over the wiring and internals for signs of the magic smoke being let out. I'm thinking dead amp from no static at all and no power to the turn table since the light sockets in the radio itself get power. Wondering if anyone has any tips on where exactly to start. I have the schematics for the tuner and have to wait 24 hours to download the one for the amp due to a limit on the site i found them on. i have a little bit of knowledge reading generator schematics from work.(not very good at that either but enough to get by when doing service work) so im going to brush up on my schematic comprehension. My deepest dive in audio repair is recapping an old tube radio that worked with some issues before the recapping and worked fine after and replacing the motor cap in my Sony Reel to reel, so i may keep an eye out and find a couple more beginner friendly projects to gain some knowledge because I'm assuming there is a bit more wrong with this than just needing new electrolytics. I have a feeling i may be a bit over my head but i have a determination to learn, im young and enjoy vintage audio enough that i should probably build these skills since its getting harder and harder to find people to do work on these things (and its fun so why not) Im ready to learn
Also any resource recommendations both in book form, videos and articles for this kind of thing would be much appreciated. Maybe a general troubleshooting guide for steps i should take sorta like you would do with an engine as i havent been able to find anything like that yet in my searching.
Editing to add: Ive already confirmed the speakers work by hooking up an amp and tuner to the harness and playing radio over them they sound great, probably will have to refoam them all though going off the tweeter i took off
