Yeh, I might have at least a guess with a pic. I have a few Majestics adorning my living room. Some of the coolest, and biggest, table tops out there. I always add a CD input to them.

"Majestic" is the name that the Grundigs were imported under, so the name "Majestic" does not mean a specific model.

On the back of the dust cover there should be a model number, but of course if there is no back cover you're SOL there. The front of the unit might have a number, my 1088 has it on the front grill on the left side.

Might be able to poke around the Radiomuseum site and find a picture and some information.

I have a Majestic console pull which sounds awesome:

Beautiful radios. Fun to work on.

A picture should produce some results for a model #.

If not a din jack it should have one that takes banana plugs.

You can search the radiomuseum site based on the tubes that are in your radio. Don't forget the tuning eye!

Here's a couple, maybe you can see the CD RCAs I put in on the back of the bigun. I hooked them up to the "PU" input. I think that stands for phono "pick up". I did it when I was re-capping the old girl.

Got a line on a Grundig Majestic 7005 that looks pretty clean.

I realize it is monophonic but it has two electrostatic tweeters but only 6 tubes.

Those seem odd specifications.

Anyone with a opinion on this model? I've got several options locally in tube consoles. VoM, Stromberg-Carlson, Motorola. but I have a sentimental attachment to blonde Grundigs as I had one right out of college until the magic music smoke leaked out one day and I had to let it burn out in the backyard.

That is sweet man. I wouldn't let the mono bother me, I like mono every now and then. If you go to a live performance it's usually mono eh?

The Majestic is still a worthy find.

Look at your multi speaker home theaters- 1 suwoofer, because bass is largely non-directional, and multiple little speakers. The Majestic will sound favorably to most people, and with the 2 tweeters, depending how they are phased, there are times the brain decodes a mono signal so you percieve a left and right signal in spite of the fact they are fed from the same mono source.

Le's see the back cover, and chassis with back cover removed. Are tube numbers listed? Radiomuseum.org probably has the answers.

Looks a lot like a 1097 but the eye tube is in a different place.

If it has the classic lineup of ECC85 ECH81 EF89 EABC80 EM84 EL84 then you can use any number of similar schematics. And really, to recap you just need to replace value for value the paper caps and the electrolytics.
