I picked up a AKAI cassette tape deck today at the local Goodwill on the way home from work. I poped the top and it needs a new drive belt and a good cleaning, at least on a cursory inspection. I was just curious as to where in the hierarcy of AKAI cassette decks this model falls and general opinion of this model. I've attached a few pics and also modeled it with my GX 4000d RTR.:D

Your 707D looks very much like my Akai GXC-709D that sold for around $300 in the '80's and must be it's predecessor.

The major difference between the two at least that I can tell, is the GXC has a Glass, Crystal Ferrite head with a very, very, very long lifespan.

Heads are pretty soft, I used mine a lot back in high school and the heads ended up with a noticeable ridge on them but I liked it back then.
