H H scott 208 inputs

hello, i recently got a Scott 208 from a friend, it sounds good but i dont know what the numbers on the inputs are for.:scratch2: he just said to use one or the other, in other words dont mix the imputs use both 1.5V or 2.5V. The 1.5V inputs says for (355) im not sure what that means. I do know that he has a scott 355 preamp/tuner that he used with this amp. But im not sure of which to use for my own scott 330 tuner. But i connected my pioneer CT-F950 and CT-F700 tape decks to the 1.5V inputs and its ok. but there must be a reason its marked 1.5V and 2.5V.
also, does anyone know what tube or solid state preamps that will pair up ok with the Scott 208. Im currently useing a" china Little Bear tube preamp (6J1 tubes) that i got from a guy on ebay for $20. it works "surprisingly":yes: but looking for a vintage preamp.

if you want to stay with the same era preamp look for a hhscott LC-21 tube preamp.I use the lc-21 with my hhscottLK-150 tube power amp.Once you have the preamp then you can add your sources ie cd player ,scott tuner ,turntable ect.
The LC-21 is an excellent tube preamp and will matchup well with the 208 poweramp.

Hello welcome. You have this posted in the wrong thread. Those inputs are the max allowed per those inputs. Connect CD player if you have one, to the higher input as those output the most volts otherwise I would not worry you will hear distorted sound if you over drive the low voltage inputs
 
Welcome to AudioKarma. Just as your friend said, you can use either one or the other input pairs. The Scott 355 was designed to be used with the 208. In fact, there was a bracket that connected (attached) the two chassis together, in essence, making a receiver. Based on my experience, a Dynaco PAS 3X makes for a good vintage preamplifier for use with a Scott 208. However, your modern Little Bear may sound better. Good listening.
