H/K 630 question

I'm checking out an H/K 630 and noticed some bubbling caps, the 35V 4700 uf caps in the power supply. I removed the bottom panel and see that there are resistors between the poles. Should I just bleed off the caps and take a reading to see if they are within tolerence, or just replace them while I'm in there? What purpose do they they serve? Just a capacitance/resistive filter?
Sorry to sound like a dumbass. It sounds OK thru headphones, but I don't like the looks of those caps at all. I figured I should do all 4 at once to be safe. Any suggestions on brands or service documentation?

The caps are used to filter hum from the power supply, as well as provide a reserve amount of power for those times the amp needs a quick burst of power to cover a big transition from quiet to loud.

If they are oozing they need to go. Panasonic and nichicon make pretty decent caps. You aren't going to be able to get the exact type, but you can make them work. As long as the ratings are near the same you'll be fine. Just don't go below the current value. If the new ones are two small, you can use stick on weather stripping to help hold the new caps to the old clamps. You can also mount them underneath the chassis if there is room

Hope this is helpful.

I recently did a cap upgrade to this model - power supply caps plus all 'lytics in the signal path. Well worth the time and effort as it really cleans up the "drag" created by the old 'lytics.

If I were you, I would replace those PS caps with Nichicon PW from digikey. They are small enough to fit under neath the chassis, thereby leaving the vintage large PS caps intact for looks.

This is a good receiver and well worth restoring. Good luck!

BTW, a schematic is available online. Just google it.
