H/K Citation 12 Questions

Just had a few questions about the Harman Kardon Citation 12.

1. How well does this amp tolerate 4 ohm loads?
2. Are there any special issues to look out for with this amp?
3. Does this amp have any tendency whatsover to sound harsh?

Thanks

While I can't speak for point number one, I have not come across any special "issues" with it except for, as is not unusual for something of this age, the caps going bad. Plan on replacing those.
As far as harshness, mine is almost, and I hate to use the term, "tube-like" in sound. Very smooth. Very easy to listen to. Mine has been throughly overhauled, but not substantially modified.

I just recently got one and have been playing with it for about a month now. Very nice sound. Tube-like? Perhaps. It certainly has a sound more like my McIntosh MA6100 than either my Yamaha CR1020 or my Marantz 2225.

As long as the speaker load does not go below 4 ohms, you should be safe.

The Cit 12 is as close to a tube sound you will get from Citation components.

Joe
