h/k Citation Receiver

Manitoulin has one in his collection and I think it's one of his favorites.

Just curious if you know anything about the 930 Receiver.
 
This is aesthetically the most b-you-ti-ful! piece of gear I've ever seen. As my gear-hogging friend always says when he sees something he likes,

I have no idea, as she refuses to have any contact with me at all. Cleaned me out and then ignores me. Almost like we we still married....

I am sorry for your loss, I meant the Citation Receiver!
That's too bad that she kept it, how did you ever find another one?
I am not sure how many we made, I just know it wasn't many.
As you said, when first released it was at the time of the monster receivers from many manufacturers. h/k was not concerned about specmanship, just sonic performance first, and aesthetics/functionality second.

Brian, as I wrote before, the specs are misleading, as far as I am concerned. At lower than max ratings, the Citation Receiver is a true champ. I could not actually measure the THD. I am convinced that h/k were forced to put a high power o/p rating to compete in the "receiver wars". If it is rated as a 75 WPC receiver, I feel there is nothin that can compete, bar none. It is so clean and sweet sounding.

Brian, you have every reason to be proud of your efforts when you helped to design it. I looked forever on eBay and was lucky to find a Canadian seller. Despite many loud and negative words from the new wife, I had to buy it. There was no question at all. I was lucky to get it for $300 (US$). I would have bid twice that....

VS, if I ever can borrow a real digital camera, I will make some proper pics for your web site.

If it were not so oversized, I would be running my Cit Rcv as my main unit. :thmbsp: It is too wide for the rack I have now. I wish I had the skills to make a properly sized rack for it. As it is now, I rarely ever am allowed to push the Citation 19 to levels that the Cit Rcv could not match. If I could use it, I am quite sure there would be a sale for at least two of my Citation 19s....

Different world but since you were at h/k, I cannot resist asking: do you know anything about the Citation XX and XXP and the "smaller" X-I and X-II?
I have posted the XX on TVK already (http://www.thevintageknob.org/THEVAULT/CITATIONXX/CITATIONXX.html), but long for more info. I have much more than what is posted but I'd love to know the "backstage story" of these units - what the lit' never says or shows!

I left h/k about a year after the Cit 16 thru 19 series, 340, 560, 670, etc. products were completed and in production. That was about the time Matti Otala was hired as a consultant to h/k. Otala is known for his work with TIM and was responsible for the Cit XX series.
