I tried it a number of years ago too. The results were interesting, and it was an inexpensive, easy DIY project.

I did that too after reading the Haffler article and seeing the diagram in I believe Audio Magazine (I miss that magazine) I used that setup through the 1970's. I now have a Sanyo SQ/QS decoder and I use that, if only I had the adaptor in the 70's!
