Amateur poets we are
Nobody pays us....
Ah, but you take "amateur" in a narrow sense; that of financial remuneration as in sports.
In the broader way, we may lack proficiency in a skill thus being amateur in skill, however we can work on it to the degree of mastery. Even these have different levels of ability and considered professional. Again in the wider sense of meaning.
So, was just alluding that we all attempt the writing of poetry, and there is no need of label, only the love of the work that goes into the writing itself.
