Hammond tube amp questions

I picked up these 2 tube amps a couple weeks ago, I actually traded a gun for both of them. I believe these to be a Hammond amps, the first one is a AO-58 stereo amp, its has 4-EL34's, sounds excellent and looks like a clone on the Dynaco ST-70. The 2nd is a mono amp, model number is AO-59, has 2- Kt-88's, sounds fantastic thru 1 speaker, I actually like the sound better than the stereo amp. This amp also appears to be a copy of the Dynaco MKiii mono amp.

Does anyone have any info on these amps, if the mono was indeed a duplicate of the MKIII I ould love to get another one and run the mono's. I cant find any info on these on the web, any help would be appreciated.

Those are basically Dynacos. They were from the very rare G-100 (Grand 100) church organ, the only tonewheel organ with no drawbars. It had a stop-tab pipe organ console and was classically-voiced.

G-100's are extremely rare, most of them that existed have been junked and the Dynaco amps harvested from them. Not many were made...

Thanks for the reply, they were taken out of a church. Do you know if these are an exact match for an MKIII and ST70?

That's an interesting trade.

When I lived in Texas twelve years ago, my friends there used to say "Gun control is using both hands". :)

Just by looking at the pics, it appears the OPT lamination stack on the ST70 clone is not nearly as thick as the real ST 70 outputs. The 470 lam stack is 1 and 7/8 inches thick for reference. I'm wondering if the MKIII look alike was doing the lower frequencies while the ST70 one was doing mid and high. It wouldn't be the first time Hammond did it like that. I have a Hammond chassis here that has one big bass output and 3 smaller outputs, all driven by 6BQ5s (4 in PPP on the bass, and two each in PP on the small TXs. This is just a guess though, maybe you could measure the stack to confirm. :scratch2:

The MkIII-alike was the bass channel amp, the ST70-alikes ran mids and treble.
