Thanks to all for the wishes!

I wish I had been around here at the time to virtually toast you guys, after all 60 is a "big number" in one's life, but as fate would have it this was not possible. Back in mid-July while my wife and I were visiting her family in Canada we were involved in a traffic accident on a divided highway near Quebec City. Long story short my wife was ok but I suffered multiple fractures and internal injuries that included a severely bruised spleen, collapsed lung and last but not least, I lost a kidney in the ordeal, it had been literally destroyed I was told. Oh well, you can live on one.

Spent the whole summer in a Canadian hospital (a very large and super-clean facility), which I would have prefferred not to (to my Canadian friends: I wouldn't have liked a US hospital any better especially not a HMO favorite (read cheapest possible) forced upon me. Luckily I have relatively generous indemnity insurance and I believe I was cared for with the best science health professionals in an adavanced country can offer, as was any other patient there.

Still not over yet, some minor surgeries to come so I'm still in Canada, haven't been home since June. But that's okay as it "prompted" me to purchase some more audio gear up here. Haven't been to our summer home in Maine either and let me tell you, since yesterday I have no desire to set foot in that state until they catch the gunman, What a tragedy :(

Wow .... so sorry you have had to deal with all of that. All that you've been though and all you have to go though, it sounds like your a very strong man. You take care of yourself! Listen to the doctors and do as they say. Speedy recovery fella, chin up! All this helps to give you moments where you can appreciate the better things in life I'm sure.

Main .... well the guy took care of his fate himself. Sadly, I missed my opportunity to visit Main little more then a year ago. Had family members move there, and before the wife and I could visit, she (sister in law) passed away. Would have really liked to have visited. Especially in the fall.

Thanks Garry :)

Yeah the guy took the coward's way out. God knows what goes through the mind of such individuals and in this case I guess we'll never know. Lewiston is such a lovely typical New England town, but now sadly it will be remembered for this horrible massacre for decades.

Please accept my condolences for your sister-in-law. Maine is indeed spectacular in the fall, especially in the mountains. Hope you get another chance to visit!
