Happy freakin' winter!

HiFi in WYO

The universe is a big place, perhaps the biggest.
First snow of the year. Big cold front moving in from Montana, started yesterday up there with quick 20+ degree temp drops. Was in the 70s yesterday but dropped overnight. Low 30s now and its snowing. Could set record lows by tomorrow night with below 0 wind chills. Thank goodness got the summer toys and the sprinklers winterized Sunday. Yuck.

I was reading about the first snow storm on the 29th of Sep., where the governor declared an emergency. Now again, must be because of that huge typhoon headed for Japan. Might be a good indication of another good winter with plenty of snow pack. If the Midwest is getting hit like this won’t belong before the Great Lakes effect freezes New England. Historic weather for sure.....

Well the Old Farmer's Almanac said it was to be a hard winter. This is our usual October snow, but this one is much colder than in the last few years. Usually it's just a big wet dump of snow. It's been snowing up in the Tetons for a week or so and Yellowstone closed from the north, neither of which is unusual. Good news it's supposed to be back into the upper 50s next week. I'm just not ready, I was hoping to squeeze in another boating day. Oh well.

It FINALLY got off its asinine obsession of setting new heat records EVERY day-Did that for almost the last 2 weeks. this week, so far has been 60s 70s, bright blue weather. Sposed to be our big fall festival this weekend, this is like the 35th year we've had it. We haven't had an appreciable rain in like 6-8 weeks, this festival is a Big Deal, families come back home, our normal population is about 6500 ppl, town usually has a good 15000 during this shindig. Bet it'll RAIN, naturally..

I’m just a few miles south of Wyoming... I forgot to blow out the sprinklers last weekend. Please don’t freeze, please don’t freeze.

I'd liked to have enjoyed a month or at least a few weeks without any AC or heat running.

Not so, had to fire up the ole heat to remove the chill this morning in the bathroom. .
Just last week it was close to 100*!!

Small problem, I'll have to start the winterizing soon. Big problem, after an emergency service call for the furnace last winter the tech said the furnace was on it's last and needs to be replaced. I don't like being cold and for that I really really really don't like the Winters here.

Well that wasn't horrible. About three or so inches of snow though it's still coming down. 21 degrees though is a bit chilly. Of course all of the four wheel googans piled up on I-80 closing it for several hours early this morning. Jeez, every year, every storm = pileups, crashes all over the state and my biggest pet peeve of all - people who don't clean off their windows. At least I can kick back tonight, pour a glass of Jefferson's and listen to some tunes and not feel guilty about not being outside.

I figure when it starts snowing here in Wisconsin, it won't quit until May. I've go myself psyched up for a BRUTAL winter.

I think this year I'm wintering in Iceland. It's warmer there.

At the very least, shut off the supply line and open the valve(s) to drain the water from the back flow valve so it won't freeze (and leave the valves open). I know from experience, that one ain't cheap to replace. :(
Also, disconnect any garden hoses. Did that one too.
