Hard Wiring New Speakers to TV

I have an old 42" LG flat screen hanging on the wall with the original speakers mounted underneath pointing backwards (?), toward the wall it is fastened to, and they work fine for youngsters with good ears, but MY apparati of diminishing returns need a little help.
I have some thriftstore speakers -- Pioneer Elite PDP-S36 - New old stock in box that I picked up years ago and am thinking of bypassing oem drivers and hardwiring, forward facing, with the Pioneer 2 ways. They are 8 ohms.
I figure it should give a sharper presence to the weather girl's alluring illuminosity.
I have a 5.1 amp system but don't want to use it every time I turn on the tube.

Has anybody here hardwired replacement speakers to their tv?
Concerns? Results?

Tv model would be helpful.. when you say the speakers are 'mounted' underneath, do you mean they are separate components.?
If they are, they have speaker wire running to them that you could extend to your speakers instead..
Not much power coming from the tv amp, but it will work..
(If the wiring is internal) you'll have to take the tv off the wall, remove the back, snip the wires, and extend them from the tv amp to your speakers..

Made around 2010 or thereafter.
No external speakers; just integrally body-mounted at bottom facing backwards toward wall. (Not sure of reasoning for that engineering philosophy. )

I originally thought of just adding sound deflectors to channel sound forward but I have these 2 way speakers that I want to utilize cuz they're here and paid for.

I would try headphone out to a cheap $20 Chip amp before trying to take the TV apart. The bass/treble controls may come in handy.
