Hardware Recommendation for a Sliding Turntable Shelf

Just a quick thought: If you are going to be using a moving magnet cartridge, you want the cable from the table to the preamp to be as short as possible. I wonder, depending on the preamp selection, if you might want to put the preamp on the shelf with the turntable? Again, it really depends on preamp selection as far as size, and now you would have one more wire moving with the self (preamp power), but for picky audiophile type reasons, a shorter run to from table to preamp is preferred (for MM carts).

Makes sense. The pre-amp is a beast, a McIntosh MX-136, so putting it on the shelf is not really practical. I am currently using either a Denon DL-110 (most of the time) or occasionally a Micro Acoustics MA-2002. I know the Denon is a high output MC cartridge so I would think the same caution applies. I will try the install with the stock wires first, which are working fine right now, and avoid lengthening them if at all possible.
 
I used these Accuride from Rockler for my Turntable table/Record storage cabinet . Nice and smooth and holds a lot of weight .

I have thought if installing a sliding shelf for my receiver so I can pull it out of the cabinet to access the rear. Looks like lots of good hardware suggestions in this thread.
 
Thought i'd just read up on what people were doing here, since i already did the same thing last year for my TT.
The slides i used are readily available in the building supply chains here and easy to install.
Although it initially slid in and out nicely with the TT on it, I found it a bit too fast and jittery, So I glued on a heavy granite tile underneath which incidently smooths out any acoustical or other vibrational feedback.
And super greased up its bearings with PTFE spray. I can now slide it in and out super smooth without it influencing playing, but normally play it open or closed.
Solid as a house when extended and tucks away nicely for "stealth" playing and when not in use.

Just re-reading this thread before I order some slides and I realized your using your slides to hold drawers full of records! Lot of weight there, are they still OK?

Yep works great!!! I even use the drawers pulled out to add a TT on top when I'm testing them as you can see here in this picture. :D
