Harley Davidson Harman/Kardon Amplifier??

This is kind of funny. I was browsing shopgoodwill, and saw a listing for a "Harley Davidson Harman/Kardon Amplifier."
Hmmm. That's a pairing I've never heard of...
It turns out someone must have stuck a Harley badge on their receiver, and the folks at goodwill just rolled with it!

Unless of course maybe there was a "Harley/Kardon?"
....or a "Harman Davidson?"

I seem to recall that there was in fact a Harley-Davidson stereo marketed at one point in time, when they were slapping their brand on any and everything that people would buy (more so than today)

a stain on the real HD name gear (Motorcycles and the like) ...

Yep, the actual Harley branded stuff was awful. Of course, back then, they were selling their name to everybody and everything so they could get enough money to build better bikes. Which they did.

Harley used HK stereo units in some models of their touring bikes
Harley Davidson Advanced Audio System by Harman Kardon.Not sure of the yrs,my bikes got a 10 cd stacker {2003 HD roadglide}
there audio systems are great tho after rideing Harleys for 30 yrs without music there greatly appreciated!Dont think that unit was used tho..lol

I've own and ridden AMF Harleys, they were as good as any others they turned out previously, imo.
While they were a conglomerate not focused parity on motorcycles, American Machine and Foundry provided much needed funding and fresh tooling, which kept them alive during some fairly lean years.

That is completely true. Without AMF's money, at the time, to upgrade tooling, etc., there probably would not be a Harley Davidson today. Look what happened to the Brits. That being said, the late sixties to the late seventies HD's were not known for their quality control. However by the time the EVO engine came out, in the mid eighties, Harley was well on it's way to recovery.

I believe that emblem was used in '47-'50. Last knuckle head and early panheads.

Probably a scaled down repro. My last Harley was an '88 Evo Superhog, sold ca '96.
