Harman/Kardon 330c - no sound (or very litte) from either channel

I've had a 330c sitting around for a while and I finally decided to hook it up and give it a spin. Sounded great for a few weeks. I switched it out and then decided to put it back in. This time - no sound! From either channel! If I turn the volume up all the way, I would get a hint of sound out of the right channel. But now, nothing at all. Not from speakers, not from headphones.

If I use the tape out, I do get sound as expected--from AUX, from AM/FM, but haven't checked phono. I checked all fuses and did a visual inspection of the boards to no (unsurprising) avail. Since the tape out is functioning, I'm guessing it's the power amp board? But really, I'm clueless about where to start. Any help is appreciated!

Posting the link to the 330I with service notes but don't know if it applies your issue(s)

If the unit hasn't been serviced, that is a consideration. But the service manual may provide some insight to look into if applicable. you can also use the search top right page corner to search other projects.
bink :D

Bink.. That service manual is not even close..HifiEngine does have the correct manual though. 330C
OP check your TAPE MONITOR switch setting..TAPE MONITOR switch maybe dirty..

I picked up a fix and repair online was barely getting any sound out of it at max volume (what got it sold cheap). Good cleaning of the controls and switches with DeOxit brought it back to life. That and a few new bulbs (behind signal meter, power switch, stereo light) works well now. Just remember the goal is to get the cleaner inside the pot/switch where the contacts/wipers are. A number of units I take the knobs and face plate off and get the tone board loose to get things at an angle I can get a good flush into them. Have bought a unit from a fellow AKer that said they cleaned the controls but based on the feel they were still dirty. Much different after I got done, got the detent action working well again.

If tape out is good function selector should be good likely in pre-amp or amp section. Of course a number of controls/switches in that signal path like volume that can be losing a signal. From what I have read in the past these often need periodic control cleaning to keep going.

Thanks for the suggestions, all! I can't remember if I gave it a good de-oxit-ing a few years back when I got it. I got a few receivers at the same time and spent more time on the others. The switches look and feel good, but nonetheless, I'll give it a good cleaning and see what I can do with the tape monitor switch!

Welp, cleaned the monitor switch and sound has returned! But only to the right channel. The left channel has a notable hum but no sound! The fuses are all ok.

Clean it some more.

Seriously, I had a similar issue with my JVC I picked up from ye olde auction site. Did a quick clean, got no result. Did a much more thorough job and everything came to life. So, clean it some more :D
