Harman Kardon 730 FM Meter at Full Strength and Muting Not Working after recap, looking for help.

After a full recap of the tuner board, I noticed the FM meter is stuck at full strength (this was not the case prior to recap it adjusted according to the FM station strength normally prior to recap) and does not budge even between stations with no reception. Also, the muting button doesn't mute between stations likely because the meter is showing everything as full strength. Additionally there is no change in the meter strength when adjusting trim pots VR351 and VR352. I double checked and all capacitors appear to be in the correct orientation and correct capacitance. Could a transistor or other component have failed during this recap process? Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Are you sure all of the new soldering work is good as some of these joints I circled in red look cold, or lacking solder?

I have reflowed solder to those areas, no change. The top most circled one appears to just be a leg of the adjustment modular and not attached to any trace.

Ok great news, it was a cold solder joint and one you pointed out! I reflowed it originally with no change. I took a break and had dinner with the fam, came back to it with a clear head and revisited these noted areas shining my led flashlight around them to see if maybe I could see light through the board, low and behold there was light coming through at the solder joint indicated by the green arrow! I unsoldered completely and resoldered and the meter came back to life and mute now works!

I'm glad you got your 730 working again. HK twins are amazing and rising quickly in value. FWIW, many people choose to leave the tuning boards alone in a rebuild when it's working correctly. I have come over to that camp also. Best case for a working tuning section is that it's about the same. Worst case is it's now nunfunctional. YMMV

In my experience, I've never had any tuner issues after doing a recap on Harman Kardons.

That's good. I was speaking more about receivers in general. Many people, myself included, choose to not touch the tuning section unless there is a problem or they are specifically asked to do so. Have you noticed improvements on an already working tuning section? (Honest question, not sarcastic)
