Harman Kardon 930 Twin, Tuner lights on all the time?

Just acquired a beautiful and functioning HK930 Twin.

I use it almost exclusively for playing records, but the tuner dial lights turn off when it's switched into Phono or Aux. I realize this is supposed to happen, I guess to save energy and the bulbs, etc, but aesthetically the thing looks way cooler when all the lights are illuminated (like on my old Harman/Kardon 330B). Is there any way to make this happen no matter what function is selected? Wondering if it's a fairly easy wiring "hack." Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! I have downloaded service manuals. Thanks!

makes sense - I'll see what I can do. Now, what is the design reason for turning the lights off in?
- off-loading one of the transformers for tonal balance ?
- how much current do those lamps draw ?
- ... and if that adds up to something meaningful - will LEDs make it more transparent on the transformer ?
 
I don't know the reason but several manufacturers do it, Sansui is one that comes to mind. The 9090 has problems with the switch, too much load on the tiny contacts. I guess if you are not listening to the radio why have the lights on, I know there's less and less reason to listen to the radio nowadays, at least where I live.

I realize this is an old thread. What is the best way to identify pins 9 & 11? I have reviewed the schematic and I'm still not clear on how to identify the pin numbers.
 
Old post, but I found a workaround for the tuner light/Aux thing on youtube.
Plug RCA into the Tape 1 input, press Tape Mon 1 button, switch the input selector to FM, worked for me!
