A few years ago my HK Citation started to hum quite loudly on the right side. I have the technical manual but I think it's the large 1,000 microfarad capacitors that have given way. Has anyone else had this problem?
Open it up and inspect all 4 of the big filter caps. There's a chance that one of them has been leaking. This might not account for the hum, however, since there are also electrolytic caps on the driver board that can also be at fault. Lastly, both driver boards mount to the chassis with mating connectors that need to be cleaned. Ditto for the 2 RCA input jacks.
Until that the mechanical connectors are sorted out and a visual inspection is completed, you cannot really know where the source of the humming is coming from.
Post some pictures for the cadre of arm-chair bench techs to inspect with you.
