This last Citation from HK was not put together the way it should have been. There are comments on the web about bad solder joints after the years. I picked up a 22,23, 25 stack and it is nice sounding gear. I did look carefully at the boards and did not see any issues with them. The amp did need a new cap to come out of protection.
We have used the 25 in a quick listening session and the MC phono input sounded nice. The 22/25 combo also has a good sound to it. If the preamp works and is purchased at a good price, the only issue is the build quality.

I have a Citation 21 which was the same circuit as the 25 but with many less bells and whistles. In my opinion, the last generation Citation stuff (21, 22, 24, and 25) has just about the best circuitry of anything I've ever seen but the build quality certainly doesn't come close to matching vintage 1960s equipment. Still undecided on the Citation 23 tuner but there is very little technical quality from radio stations these days, so it may be a moot issue.
I just posted this on another thread, but I just recapped my Citation 21. I've had a couple of failures on a Citation 24 and CD491 tape deck and there was a problem in the 21 that would disappear by the time I could swap cables to try and isolate it. In the process of recapping, I discovered that many of these caps are being run way too close to their voltage ratings. For example, a 24 volt circuit with a 25 volt capacitor.
