Harman Kardon Citation II, Citation V

Hi everyone,

Last Sunday I picked up a Harman Kardon Citation II and two Harman Kardon Citation V's. The Citation II the power transformer is painted a caramel and the chassis is painted a dark brown. I've searched online and it seems that most of the ones with the dark brown chassis have darker transformers than mine. They are all in really good condition and I'm excited to have them. The Citation II has been one of my holy grail amplifiers for quite some time. Even though I have wanted one for some time I don't know much about them. How do you date them? I'm definitely planning on doing the Jim McShane mods after the first of the year. I have heard great things about them. Thanks for all of your replies in advance.

p.s. I haven't really had a chance to clean any of the amps yet

Someone definitely touched up the paint on the trannies of the Cit I. Didn't get a great color match either, still.

Yeah, I got them all at once. The force was definitely on my side. It nearly broke my back putting them in my sons trunk and almost lifted the front wheels off the ground, lol.

Absolutely. I've never seen a Citation II without a zillion chips in the transformer paint, unless they've been repainted. I think someone once told me that H-K (or Freed?) didn't bother to prime the transformer cans before they painted them, so the factory paint job just plain flakes off.
