Harman Kardon "Citation V" -- Value in good working condition?

Considering getting one of these and am trying to find out what's a fair price. Also, any thoughts on how it compares to a Fisher 800-b, which I'm also considering, in part because of the tuner. Thanks!

Both have Excellent Iron, with the Cit V IMHO would have better SQ, and slightly more power.
If both are totally rebuilt, I would say the Cit V would cost 25-50% More
In order to hear the better Sq, I would go with a cit 1, or 4 Preamp.
either preamp could cost more than the Cit V. There's a reason for it!

Thanks! I should have mentioned that I currently have a Scott 299-D, and am looking to upgrade without breaking the bank.

I don't know too much about the Scott 299, but from other Scotts I've heard,
they sound close to the Fisher, with the Fisher having a bit more power and better Bass.
as with all HiFi as you go up in cost the improvements are incremental.
If you have really efficient speakers the Scott could be better. It's all about synergy

So much depends on the Condition, State of Rebuild, Who built it, and Quality of parts including Tubes
1K on the Low end 2K$ on a real beauty with a solid build and good tubes.
But I would never spend that on one unless New and unassembled in the box.
Or a Mint one built by Jim McShane or some other Known Expert

I do know that the McShane upgrades are highly regarded; I got one for my Citation 1. I'm not sure such upgrades are readily available for the Fisher. You might want to check out https://www.quadesl.com/; he rebuilt a Citation 5. For market value, try Ebay completed sales or hifishark.

Thanks. And sorry just to reply. I only just saw your message. The piece is part of an estate sale, and I believe it has all of the original parts and runs well. Thanks again, s
