Harman/Kardon HK6250: Thumbs up or down.

Found an ugly HK6250 integrated amp from a trusted tech that has been gone through completely, but no new components, for $150.+ shipping. I say ugly because I am a silver face Pioneer fan and this piece does have some smudgy mars on the black face and back panel. Apparently all it needed was a good cleaning and all the pots Deox'd and lubed and it tested well on his bench. Just looking at it as a temporary replacement for my Pioneer SA-7100 while it is out getting the once over by my local tech. Guessing the HK is from after 1982 as it has a CD function setting. Only a couple of inside photos so I didn't see if it has power modules (STKs?) or not. I am not against modules but have read enough here to be aware that they can be problematic to replace if needed. All my equipment predates the Darlington era but this HK appeals to me for its 45W, 64DF power/$$ ratio. Not even sure I would keep it when the SA-7100 is back and wouldn't mind hearing what doubling the watts would do for my ESS amt4s (which are 4 ohms if that matters). I mostly look on the Bay and haven't found anything for less that has been thoroughly tech "restored" and tested. I am just unwilling to take a chance on just "used, working well" listings. Anyone had one of these? Is HK stuff from this late any good? Thanks and cheers!
P.S. Since I'm asking, give me an up or down on a couple of others I am currently drooling over on my watchlist. All are from thoroughly trusted techs and have either had the full clean, adjust, test or at least partial recapping as well. None have been fully recapped, and all are least triple the price of the HK.

Thumbs up, I use a HK6100 in my garage system with ADS 420's. Good clear sound, dynamic, nice vocals. But then I'm a H/k fan.

Thanks Dave! I figured I can't go wrong at that price for 45 watts. Which JBLs would you look for: needing floor standing and affordable. Any JBLs to avoid? Cheers, Doug

I have 4301, L19, N28 in various locations and systems. Those are all 2 way 8". The big system has both the L200t3 and L166. What to look for ? It depends on you budget, JBL runs sales on the new, 530 would pair well. Vintage L26, L36, L40, L110 depends what you can find in your area. Also become a subscriber, that gives you access to bartertown, our market place. There are a number of members in Denver area with lots to sell.
