Harman Kardon HK730 Low volume right channel

Troubleshooting and restoring an HK730, the right channel has a much lower volume output compared to the left. It doesn’t sound bad just really have to turn it up. Doesn’t matter if it’s on speaker-1 or speaker-2, or what source input I use. If I plug in headphones it does the same thing. Switched speakers as well. I cleaned all the pots and switches. Started doing a recap as well, poweramp board is done and the main filter caps changed. Set idle adjustment to spec. The sound is definitely cleaned up and crackle/pop is gone but still can’t figure this out.

Not sure exactly what you mean but if I have the volume about a quarter of the way up and turn the balance to the left channel it’s nice and full sounding, if I turn the balance to the right it’s pretty quiet. If I leave the balance on the right channel only and turn up the volume it does increase
 
The problem could be a faulty potentiometer

Put an Ohm meter on the volume and balance potentiometers and see if you get equal readings for each channel

Pull the pre/main jumpers and see if the trouble is in the preamp section or output stage.

Thank you! I’m going to check the pots with ohm meter, try re-cleaning them with Deoxit, I only have the electrical contact cleaner and also try pulling the pre-am jumpers out. Will this unit run without the jumpers?

The pre/main jumpers separate the preamp from the output stage. Then you can use another amplifier to see if the trouble is there, or an audio source with a volume control to see if the trouble is in the output stage.
