Harman Kardon PM655 loose speaker selector knob

Hi everyone,

I just got my hands on a PM655 with a loose speaker selector knob. It slides off easily and has practically no grip, i.e. it spins freely and doesn't move the underlying mechanism at all. I assume it's because those two plastic protrusions, which lock into an indent inside the knob, are worn off.

According to the service manual I think it's the "E-Stop Ring" (Part No. 2461-501) but I can't find anything online about it. AI just told me to superglue or epoxy the knob to the ring and I wanted to ask the community if that's my best option. I'm not much of a DIYer myself so the superglue solution sounds good to me, but I've heard it's not recommended to glue knobs so I'm not quite sure about this. Maybe I'm just thinking about this too hard tho...

Thanks for any help :)

A less permanent solution than superglue would be the way to go. Rubber cement or craft glue makes a less permanent bond.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up cutting two thin stripes off an old expired ID and shoved them in those slots where the original protrusions were. I cut the stripes a bit wide so I could sand them down to the perfect width and now the knob sits with almost no play. Hope this holds up.
