I heard them years ago when they were out but I honestly can't really remember my impression of them. It's been quite awhile. I remember some in that series being upwards of $4K retail which was kind of pricey for me in those days! But, they were something to admire from afar. lol

Maybe someone else will chime in with more knowledge on them. I wouldn't mind finding a pair of them locally to consider myself.

I've never heard of that model before either... but they do look like they're worth a listen! :thmbsp:

Those are Sparkomatic Altecs, not real ones.

They are of little or no interest to Altec nuts and collectors though It's quite possible they sound good enough to be worth $500, Hell, lots of terrible speakers cost alot more than that.

Pretty sure they made a self powered version of the same thing, the 5 channel amplifier sections seem to be of more interest than the speakers themselves.

Judging from those, they were available either powered or passive.

Thanks for the responses guys.I think its rare when he sees something on Savannah's CL.I think Im going to tell him to be patient and keep looking!
Mark.

Well the powered ones got very good reviews, if memory serves. Certainly not classic Altec, but not neccessarily any the worse for that. (That's being discreet so as not to upset traditionalists.)
