I saw where someone has replaced the preamp in an HK unit and I thought was an interesting idea for an upgrade for some of my 2200 series stuff. I really like the tunability of the preamp. Even if no, I might do it just because i can right now with the 2245 still open on the bench. I know.. it's taking a long while but I had to rebuild a KX-1030 to replace my Fisher Studio that gave up so that jumped the line :D I wont contaminate this forum with my Kenwood stuff but if you poke around over there, you can see the pics :D

I've always been intrigued by this unit as an external phono preamp. Are you saying you are going to install it inside your 2245? Interesting idea, but I think I would feel like I was painting a moustache on the Mona Lisa if I did that. :eek:

Yep.. I do mean that.. I don't mind swapping stuff out so long as I don't ruin the chassis etc... so someone else can put it back to OEM if they want to. No extra holes etc and I'm good with it.
