Maybe, if you like the idea of having new.

Personally, I'm a huge fan of vintage because stuff back then was built to last. You can feel it in the weight and quality of construction. Plus most vintage is fully discrete so if something goes wrong, it can be fixed. The new stuff is meant to be thrown away after a few years. I have not heard the M-10X but I can name many vintage amps that sound terrific.
 
apparently its 100wpc @ 4ohms.

ive never seen an elite that had that low of a msrp before though (400), hard to decide if 100 is a good price for a used one.

I'll say this though.. every elite ive played with has been nice, its probably worth it if you have the money just sitting around anyway.

The AU-666 is a fine sounding amp. I very much doubt the M-10X will better what you have. Keep an eye on your local Craigers. Something nice will turn up and you will be glad you didn't buy the M-10X.

I'd pass on that one too. .3% THD is pretty high for a receiver from the 80's, 90's. Hell some of my Fishers from the 60's are only at .5% so what's that tell you? I agree too that if that amp only sold at $400 new, you can do better and have a chance of getting it fixed if an older unit peters out. Stick with the older gear. I'll help you fix it.

There's lot of cheap gear around here in the Carolina's if you keep your eye out and are patient.

It'll come, just wait........one day soon......you'll see something along the line of "Stereo Receiver - $75.00" and it'll be a SX-850 or similar. Just be ready to pounce when the situation presents itself.

Like maybe a Yamaha B-2 for $50. ;) :thmbsp:
 
That Yamaha would work:banana: Clist is where I got the HK 505 and the Polk SDA's. But man, I get tired wading through the ocean of HT receivers:drool:

I'm thinking I'll pass on this. It looks like it was meant to add on to an HT receiver anyway. Not really what I'm looking for.

Now, about that Yamaha.:D
