Have the Klipsch Tangent 10's made me a convert? Maybe!

I got a pair of these for 4 bucks at a garage sale. One of the speaker connectors was broken and the tweeters didn't work. It turned out the tweeter wires had come loose on both speakers. Other than that, they are in excellent condition. Once reconnected, both tweeters began working. These speakers appear to be very well made. Consecutive serial numbers. With a pedestrian-looking 8 in. woofer and small horn, I wasn't expecting much. However, listening to them, I was quite impressed, Wide sound stage with very good depth. But the biggest surprise was the lack of in-your-face treble that I had criticized in other Klipsch speakers I had encountered. Treble was quite smooth and meshed very well with the mid/bass driver. Only at very high volumes did the treble seem a bit aggressive. These were only made for 2 years apparently, from 1989-1991, so they are somewhat of a rare duck.

I see that there were several, larger incarnations of the Tangent Series. I wonder if they are as good? It is apparent that Klipsch did indeed make some nice product. In this case, I will gratefully do a mea culpa.

I would think that 8" woofer integrates well with the tweeter on those.

Very nice score. I owned a set something like that named Tangent 20. It had a larger tweeter like the one in the KG4. It was a great sounding speaker.

The Tangent line was Klipsch's entry into a lower priced market, they didn't have some of the better quality Klipsch drivers but they did sound very good.

I have the Tangent 40's. Great sounding speakers !

Wow. I was just looking at a pair of these for $150 on Ebay. I guess I am going to keep looking, you ruined it for me. :)

Sealy I had a pair of very nice condition Tangent 40,s given to me by a friend who was driving
close to home when he spotted them sitting by the side of the road.

They were I thought better sounding than some Heritage models I have had.

Congratulations!
That was a great deal!

I had a pair of Tangent 10's or 20's that I used as the rear pair when I had a Klipsch HT set-up. Their build quality was a step down from the classic Klipsch speakers but I thought they sounded pretty good. If another pair came my way I would not turn them down.
